Our foundation helps companies ensure that workplace leaders and employees can more effectively promote equal opportunities for women raising children with disabilities, whether they wish to return to their previous positions or seek employment as new hires.<\/p>\n
In most workplaces, with an appropriately inclusive employer mindset and considering the special circumstances of the employee raising children with disabilities, it would be possible to re-employ people with flexible contracts,\u00a0 even after long periods of leave.<\/p>\n
A child with a disability does not take away from the employee\u2019s talent and resilience. At the same time, the labour market participation of these mothers is hindered by social factors and prejudices. Limited availability of public care services, traditional gender role expectations for women and men make participation rates dramatically low for mothers taking care of disabled children. Most of them rely on care allowance which is roughly a third of what would be needed to make ends meet as their only source of stable income.<\/p>\n
To improve the labour market situation of women raising children with disabilities, we implemented a joint program with the Motivation Foundation titled \u201cN\u00f3ra-T\u00e1maszpont,\u201d . One of the outcomes was the development of a program tailored to the specific needs of those in need.<\/p>\n
In 2016, we announced the annual \u201cWorkplace of the Year\u201d award for companies in a new category, recognizing support for the return to work of women raising children with disabilities. ExxonMobil was the first winner in this category.<\/p>\n
